Sherman Barnett came to El Paso in 1961 as part of a management team specializing in re-structuring failing car lots. He worked at dealerships in St. Louis, Denver, and several other cities before being sent to El Paso to fix a dealership here. About a month after arriving, he decided to make El Paso his home. He’s now been in the car business in El Paso for 47 years. In 1977 he opened a Harley-Davidson dealership which for the last 13 years has been the highest volume dealership in the world, winning Harley-Davidson Financial Services’ coveted “Top Producer” award each year for over a decade. You can check out that website at http://www.barnettharley.com/. At age 72, Sherman still races stock cars - dirt track modifieds - making almost 70 shows a year. His boundless enthusiasm for both cars and motorcycles resonates in his dealerships where salespeople are taught how to help customers find the best car or truck to meet their needs and budget. Barnett Auto Sales and Barnett Harley-Davidson are well-respected in the community. They host blood drives, food drives, and sponsor dozens of other charitable events every year.
